17/4/24, Day 2, Inner Winter

Did you ever ponder how your journey into this world influences your approach to creativity?

Recently, I had the profound privilege of birthing my own sacred shamanic drum, at the beginning of my a year-long journey through the School of Shamanic Womancraft’s Four Seasons program.

Birthing a drum isn't merely a physical act; it's a deep dive into our subconscious, unraveling patterns and beliefs imprinted during our own in-utero and post-partum experiences. It's a tender journey, often accompanied by intense remembrances, integral to the medicine of the drum-making process.

Reflecting on my own birth, I realize its parallels to my creative process today. Born swiftly, I entered a world of love, celebration, and nourishment, mirroring the nurturing embrace of my creative endeavors.

Now, on Day 2 of my cycle, I recognize the similarity between my creative bursts and the rapid birth I experienced. Sometimes, I rush into creation, swept up in the moment, only to realize I've birthed something messy, albeit not necessarily bad.

So how do we navigate this tension between creative impulse and mindful creation?

Do we trust in our ability to birth freely, or do we seek guidance and support along the way?

As I've discovered, mastering this tension involves both spontaneity and discernment, a delicate balance our Inner Winter craves.

But what does it truly mean to "hold the tension"?

It's about acknowledging our impulses while slowing down, regulating our nervous system, and honoring the rhythm of our creative flow.

Today, as I write under a waxing half-moon in fiery Aries, I'm reminded of the importance of conscious rest.

Despite the urge to create, I honor my body's need for rest, knowing that nurturing my Inner Winter will yield abundant creativity come ovulation.

So, dear soul, I invite you to embrace the dance of creation and rest, to honor the cycles of your body and the wisdom of your womb.

Holding the tension, we unlock the doorway to deeper creativity and self-discovery.

CYCLE WISDOM TIP

Practice conscious rest during your inner winter moon-time, or during the dark of the moon if you no longer menstruate.

Deepen your creative process by syncing with your body's rhythms. This easy somatic embodiment practice explores conscious rest and sacred cycle syncing to nurture creativity and self-awareness.

If you feel creative impulses during your Inner Winter, you can:

1) Journal or take voice notes and make big actions once heading into your Inner Spring and ovulatory Inner Summer “go” time.

2) Have little bursts of creativity but don’t overdo it. It is easy to get caught up in the headiness of creating during our menstrual bleed. This can result in having less energy during your ovulation Inner Summer time leading to energetic burn-out.

3) Pace yourself. Gift yourself with small ways to slow with your flow.
